General description of job:
Perform a variety of engineering work including, but not limited to; support the launch of new product development through the design, development and implementation of production equipment, design and development of production processes, identification of continuous improvement ideas and the subsequent implementation, tool design, fabrication and test, and ongoing production support. Will support engineering and production teams in the evaluation of current and development of new processes for manufacturing and production processes. Lead in the design and development of manufacturing tooling and production fixtures. Support all teams in the development of CAD model and produce the necessary associated drawings. Work with engineering, manufacturing and production teams to develop the most effective and efficient processes while developing the costs for each of products McFarlane produces. Conduct workflow analysis studies and identify continuous improvement ideas to improve products, processes and overall product costs. Identify and recommend improvements to production or testing equipment and technique. Reports to the Production Engineering Manager.
Duties, tasks and responsibilities:
- Perform all engineering tasks required to see assigned projects to completion.
- Supports the development of all manufacturing and production processes and ensure the necessary tooling, fixtures and equipment is available to support new products.
- Develop standardized manufacturing and production processes across similar products.
- Communicate with and support the machine and production teams, other engineering personnel, RSO/GM, purchasing, inventory coordinator, equipment vendors.
- Follow policies and procedures in the McFarlane Employee Manual, Quality Assurance Manual, Engineering Manual, and Safety Manual
- Development of production standards to meet product design requirements and quality control standards of the industry.
Hours and Reporting:
- Reports directly to the Engineering Manager of Manufacturing
- This is a full time, Monday through Friday with flexibility
Skills needed for the job:
- BSME or BS Industrial Engineering Preferred
- 2-5 years hands-on experience in a production environment
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Knowledge of production processes, production and manufacturing equipment, product costing development, quality control and current methodologies for maintaining and maximizing the effective and efficient production and distribution of our products.
- Industrial or Mechanical degree in engineering or equivalent training and experience
- Machine and manufacturing processes knowledge
- Knowledgeable of all existing and emerging manufacturing techniques, processes and programs such as Lean, Kan-ban, 6-Sigma, JIT, etc.
- Product cost analysis development and time study knowledge
- Ability to logically and efficiently frame and solve problems, technical and otherwise
- CAD knowledge (solid modeling proficiency preferred)
