Stephens Real Estate has filed plans with the City of Lawrence to renovate and move to the Stone Meadows Square shopping center at 6th Street and Lawrence Avenue.
“We are excited to own our own facility,” said Chris Earl, co-owner of Stephens Real Estate along with Pat McCandless and Oliver Minnis. “It will be a complete renovation.”
Oliver Minnis added, “We’ve met with every stakeholder in the business about what works great with our current building but what could be better. We’ll make sure the building has the tools that can help them in their daily activities.”
The locally owned company has a team of about 60 agents and support professionals. Stephens’ new building will include upgraded technology as well as more meeting and collaboration space. The company has been located just a block down the street for over 40 years. “After looking and assessing, we really love this location,” Earl said. “We feel like we’re part of Lawrence as a whole from this location, and not just on the west side or the east side. We refer to this area as midtown.”
Renovation work will begin in the spring and Stephens hopes to occupy the new space by late 2020.
