Peaslee Tech Board of Directors approves up to $200,000 in no-cost tuition

In response to the significant loss of jobs in Douglas County from the Covid-19 pandemic, Peaslee Tech will provide no-cost access for eligible Douglas County residents to livable wage job training programs. The Raise Income Security & Equity (RISE) Douglas County program provides no-cost tuition to any Douglas County resident who has lost their job due to the Covid-19 pandemic or qualify as low income households, until the $200,000 fund is exhausted.

 

RISE Douglas County program participants will be identified in cooperation with the Lawrence Workforce Center, the Kansas Department of Children and Families, the eight Public School Districts with students in Douglas County, and the Lawrence Branch of the NAACP. The Peaslee Tech RISE Douglas County eligible programs include on-campus offerings only.

LAWRENCE ROBOTICS TEAM EARNS JUDGE’S AWARD AT REGIONAL COMPETITION

Elementary and middle school students from Level Up Robots in Lawrence, Kan. took 4th place overall and brought home the Judge’s Award in the TCALC Vex Spin Up Blended Tournament, held February 18 at the Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers. The team, made up of four students in 5th through 8th grades, competed in a field that included 25 high school and eight middle school teams from across Kansas.
