Lawrence, KS – As the trees are budding and blooming and the days are getting longer, that can mean only one thing – farmers market season is back! Join Lawrence Farmers Market on Saturday, April 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Downtown Lawrence at 824 New Hampshire St. for the Opening Day of the 2025 Season. With over 50 local vendors joining for Opening Day and various community organizations, customers are invited to bring their reusable bags and walking shoes to enjoy the bustling, vibrant gathering. The Lawrence Farmers Market is held every Saturday, April 12-November 22 in the parking lots in the 800 block of New Hampshire St.
This season will bring at least 5 new vendors in addition to our returning vendors. Some have expanded their booths and we are so excited to be a full market for the first time in over 5 years! Meet our vendors on our new website which also has an amazing interactive map where you can search by date, vendor, and product to see who and what will be at the Market each week! Test it out for yourself: https://www.lawrencefarmersmarket.org/market-map. We are grateful to Douglas County Community Foundation and our generous donors for helping bring our updated website to fruition. You can also follow our newsletter and social media for announcements about our new and returning vendors you will see at the Market this year.
Speaking of new things, we have a new staff member for 2025. Lyndsey Fowks joins the Lawrence Farmers Market as the Market Manager, bringing a wealth of experience in community engagement, education, and sustainable food systems. With a master’s degree in communication and a background in program management, Lyndsey is passionate about fostering connections between local farmers, artisans, and the Lawrence community.
A lifelong advocate for local food, Lyndsey’s experience is rooted in the region’s agricultural network. Originally from De Soto, Kansas, she spent over five years as a Johnson County 4-H member and grew up visiting the Lawrence Farmers Market with her family. She believes farmers’ markets are essential for strengthening regional economies and promoting ecological stewardship. Currently, Lyndsey is further deepening her connection to local food systems through sustainable agriculture classes at Open Petal Farm at Johnson County Community College.
“As the new Market Manager, I’m excited to bring my enthusiasm and expertise to the longest-running farmers market in Kansas”, said Lyndsey Fowks. “I’m eager to support vendors, engage with customers, and further initiatives that make fresh, locally grown food accessible to all!”
SNAP users rejoice! – Returning this year is the Double Up Protein Bucks (DUPB) program every week alongside the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program. The color for the DUFB token has changed to aqua for the year, so only that color will be accepted for fresh fruits and vegetables. The DUPB token will remain red and will be offered and accepted every week this season! Look for more exciting updates around this program soon.
