Independence Inc. announces a $40k Nursing Home Transition grant has been awarded to our State Association, Kansas Association of Centers for Independent Living (KACIL), by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Grant money is available to people with paralysis who are transitioning out of a nursing home or institution into community-based independent living. Funds can be used for costs associated with the transition including rental and utility deposits, assistive technology, essential home furnishings and supplies and home modifications. Qualifying individuals may receive up to $4,000.
