Grand Opening Set for New Location of Connect Church
Connect Church will hold a Grand Opening celebration on Sunday, December 16 at their brand new building at Kasold on the curve. Special dedication services will be held at 9:30 and 11:00am, followed by an Open House from 1:00-3:00pm at 3351 W. 31st Street, Lawrence, KS 66047. The open house will feature activities for children, refreshments, and a chance for the public to tour the facility.
The new building is the fourth location for Connect Church (formerly Lawrence Wesleyan Church). The church was founded in 1936 and built at 7th & Alabama, now home to Lawrence Community Nursery School. In 1959, they built the church building at 9th & Madeline and relocated to 3705 Clinton Parkway in 2002. Nate Rovenstine, Lead Pastor at Connect Church, said, “While we may have changed locations over the years, our commitment to the Lawrence community and our vision has not.”
Connect Church had been leasing their building at 3705 Clinton Parkway after selling it about a year ago. When their lease ran out before the new building was completed, the people at Lawrence Free Methodist Church agreed to share their building during the transition. Connect Church has been meeting there at 5pm on Sundays since November 4. “We really appreciate the generosity of Free Methodist,” said Rovenstine. “They really are showing hospitality to us as their new neighbor.”
Rovenstine said that Connect Church is focused on worshiping Christ, growing as disciples, and serving the world around us. He added, “We are really just a group of imperfect people trying to follow a perfect God.” If you would like to find out more information about Connect Church or about the Grand Opening, visit connectchurchlawrence.com/grandopening.
