Lawrence, KS: The Holiday Homes Tour, one of the city’s signature community events, will partner this year with Lawrence Habitat for
Humanity for the first time. Scheduled for December 1, the popular fundraising event previously benefited Health Care Access and
most recently Heartland Community Health Center. Summer Wedermyer, who co-chairs the same enthusiastic volunteer committee
in charge of past tours, applauds the new partnership. “We are excited to be aligned with an organization as dedicated and beneficial
to our community as Habitat for Humanity,” she says. “The Holiday Homes Tour committee is grateful we are able to keep a long
standing Lawrence tradition alive and we look forward to working with this exceptional group of people.”
Lawrence Habitat for Humanity’s mission brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Funds raised through the
Holiday Homes Tour will allow Lawrence Habitat to focus on building safe, affordable housing in the Lawrence area. Erika
Zimmerman, Executive Director, says that “the Holiday Homes Tour is a perfect fit for our organization. We are excited for one of our
own Habitat for Humanity homes to be included on the tour and for this opportunity to continue the discussion about affordable
housing in our community.”
Holiday Homes Tour tickets will be available to purchase starting October 1 at the Lawrence Habitat ReStore, at both Hy-Vee locations
and online at www.lawrencehabitat.org.
