LAWRENCE, Kan. – Cottonwood, Inc.’s twentieth annual Salute! – A Festival of Wine and Food returns to Lawrence July 11 – 13. Salute! is presented by Standard Beverage Corporation and The Oread Hotel. Salute! offers participants the opportunity to sample more than 250 wines and taste gourmet cuisine, while benefiting Cottonwood, Inc., a not-for-profit provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The three-day food and wine extravaganza begins with the Mass Street Mosey on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Participants enjoy fine wines, beer and tasty hor-doeuvres at fourteen different venues while strolling through the special ambiance of downtown Lawrence.
The sold-out Winemaker Dinner, will be held on Friday, July 12 at The Oread Hotel and will feature the wines from Schnaer Family Wine. The elegant, five-course meal, held at and prepared by The Oread Hotel will be paired with fine wines from Schnaer Family Wines. The Oread Hotel is located just beside the campus of the University of Kansas at 1200 Oread Ave. The evening begins with a wine reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner served at 7:00 p.m.
The Festival culminates with the Grand Tasting, held Saturday night, July 13th at The Oread Hotel. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Attendees can sample fine wines and spirits as well as gourmet cuisine from these local restaurants and caterers: Biggs BBQ, Eileen’s Colossal Cookies, 1856 Bar & Grill, Paisano’s, Merchants Pub & Plate, The Olivia Collection, RND Grille, 6 Mile Chop House, Glassy Girls Kansas and 23rd Street Brewery. Attendees can also browse and bid on the silent auction as well as the outstanding live auction. To commemorate the 20th year, the live auction includes 10 100 point wines and a very rare Double Eagle Bourbon as well as many experience packages and wonderful art work.
