Field & Ivy Brewery announces that Dan Chivetta will be heading up the brew crew at their brew pub and production brewery scheduled to open in Lawrence, Kansas this spring.
A self-described “huge beer dork”, Chivetta grew up in St. Louis Missouri, and went to college at Lindenwood University where he studied English. He then honed his brewing skills at Siebel Institute in Chicago and took a brewer position with Trailhead Brewing Co. in St. Louis. In 2009 he accepted an offer from Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City mostly working on the Smokestack series, but also helping with the development of over 100 beers.
He remembers when he heard his calling, “My love of beer was really driven home when one night right after college. I was drinking a Traquair House Ale. As I drank it I was thinking in my head about what it was, what style. I guessed it was a scotch ale and looked it up on beer advocate and realized I was correct in my assumption. I can’t tell you why me guessing the style correctly really made beer click for me, but it did.”
Dan, his wife Staci and their daughter live in Kansas City.
