LOCAL CHEF’S PARTNER FOR THE RETURN OF JAY’S DINNER

On Thursday, March 8th, local chefs are partnering together for the third year to host a multi course social-style community dinner in honor of Juan “Jay” Carlos Tovar-Ballagh. The dinner will benefit Just Food and their cooking class programs. Juan was an accomplished chef at Hank Charcuterie and previously at Pachamama’s and Limestone and passed away in November 2015. The featured chefs by Ken Baker, Pj Tovar-Ballagh and Brian Strecker of Lawrence Beer Company, Vaughn Good of Hank Charcuterie, Rick Martin of Limestone – pizza.kitchen.bar, Zach Thompson of 715 Restaurant, Tim Quillim from Ladybird Diner, Taylor Hickman from Bon Bon and Chetan Michie of Port Fonda, Lawrence. Each chef once worked alongside Jay in their career. The dinner will also include wine from Ad Astra Selections, bakery items from 1900 Barker and meat and cheeses from Michael Beard of Meat, LLC.
The event will be held at Lawrence Beer Company from 6:00 to 9:45 pm and tickets can be purchased at http://justfoodks.org/events/jays-dinner-2018. Tickets are $100 and include a multi course dinner with wine, beer or cocktail accompaniments.
Just Food, the food bank of Douglas County, works to improve health and well-being for Douglas County residents by providing access to nutritious food and collaborating with community partners on programs that empower self-sufficiency.
