Jim Bost Plumbing Expands Under Leadership from Son
For nearly 50 years, Jim Bost Plumbing has been proudly serving the Lawrence area. In recent years, under the direction of Jim’s son Paul, the company has experienced significant and sustainable growth.
“We don’t waste our customer’s time or money on things they don’t need,” Paul says. “We strive very hard for same-day or next-day service. When we start a job, our goal is to do the best job possible in as short of time as we can.”
The company was founded by Jim, a Lawrence native and Vietnam War Veteran. When Jim returned to Lawrence after serving his country, he found work with a local plumber. He quickly made a name for himself for doing quality work for an honest price and soon began working for himself.
“I’ve always prided myself on quality work,” Jim says. “I love fixing problems at the source, like locating water leaks in homes. I don’t know many people that get excited to call a plumber, so I built my business on being honest and fair while getting the job done.”
After more than 40 years, Jim sold his business to his oldest son, Paul. In the 4 years since Paul has been in charge, the company has grown in employees and services.
“My dad built a great plumbing business by doing good work the right way,” Paul says. “I work every day to uphold that reputation and serve as many new customers as we can. We have expanded our number of employees to help us serve more customers.”
Paul has nearly tripled the number of employees at Jim Bost Plumbing. The 5 full-time employees have a combined total of more than 120 years of experience stopping leaks, fixing pipes and keeping water flowing how it should.
“We have more employees and more trucks than ever before,” Paul says. “That helps up reach more people in a shorter time and continue quick, quality service. Doing the work Jim Bost Plumbing has always done makes people happy. That’s always been good for business.”
Paul, a Lawrence native, is thrilled to be running the family business with his brother, Derek.
“I’ve been a part of this business and this community my whole life,” Paul says. “I put on my first tool belt to help my dad at age 4. I played football at Lawrence High and came back after attending Kansas State. This is a great town full of great people.”
Paul and his wife, Megan, have one child, Henry. Megan is a nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and active with the PTA. Megan also serves on the board of directors for “juvenile arthritis research foundation”
