(Lawrence, KS) United Way of Douglas County is hosting a day-long Bridges Out of Poverty Workshop for Douglas County human service providers, community leaders, and change makers in Douglas County. The day-long workshop is Friday, July 26th from 9am-4pm in the Carnegie Building, 200 W 9th St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
The workshop is a comprehensive approach to understanding poverty on a community-based level.
Bridges Out of Poverty uses the lens of economic class and provides concrete tools and strategies for a community to alleviate poverty. Throughout the workshop, participants will receive specific strategies for improving outcomes, but the focus of the workshop is to provide a broad overview of concepts.
Training will be provided by Kathy McPherson, an experienced Bridges Out of Poverty and Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World trainer and facilitator with over 25 years of experience working with communities to reduce poverty.
Lunch is being donated by HyVee and is included with the day-long workshop fee.
Registration costs are as follows:
- United Way Community Impact Partners – Free
- Douglas County Community Based Nonprofits – $20
- General Public/Community Leaders/Private & Public Sector Employees – $50
